Frequently asked questions
Can I start numbering from something other than 1?
Yes. Set the starting number to whatever you need - useful when the document is one chapter of a larger work, or when the first pages are a cover and should not count.
Will the numbers cover up existing content?
They are drawn on top of the page, so if your document already has content in that corner they can overlap. Increase the margin or choose a different position if that happens.
What does "Show total pages" do?
It prints "3 / 12" instead of just "3". Useful for printed handouts where a reader needs to know whether pages are missing.
Can I number only some pages?
Not with this tool - every page gets a number. To number only part of a document, split it first, add numbers to the section you want, then merge it back.
What font is used?
Helvetica, a standard PDF font that every reader can display without embedding extra font data. That keeps the file size increase negligible.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Page numbers are added in your browser and nothing is transmitted or stored.
